About Kids English Club

Welcome to the Kids English Club! At Clarence International School, we pride ourselves in developing a love of the English Language through fun, stimulating and thought-provoking activities. Our KEC programme is designed to meet the needs of all children, whatever their stage of language development. Using the Cambridge University Press textbooks,  as well as the renowned Read Write Inc. Phonics scheme, our curriculum is designed to give children a solid foundation in speaking, reading and writing English.

We want our children to have fun as they learn and at our Kids English Club, children experience a range of different activities and learning techniques. Art is at the centre of everything we do at CIS and our KEC programme is no different; from painting, to collage, to sculpture and performing arts, our creative curriculum is bound to inspire any child!

Lesson Structure

All classes meet twice a week for one hour each (Lesson 1 and 2).
The lessons focus on vocabulary and grammar, reading and writing, and more practical and applicable English skills.

As well as learning the fundamentals of English, children also have chance to explore their artistic potential, with purposely designed art-based activities that help to support their continued understanding of the language.

Cambridge University Press Textbooks

Cambridge University Press is one of the world’s leading publishers. Their English Language learning materials are used worldwide. Following the Cambridge Young Learners English syllabus, we prepare children to take Cambridge Young Learner English examinations. Throughout the course, we supplement textbook work with mock exam materials and assessments to ensure that children are completely comfortable with the material they have been studying.

To support children’s reading and writing skills. we use the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme: a highly structured approach to synthetic phonics which enables children to progress rapidly. As children continue through our programme, they will encounter increasingly difficult texts which help them to continue to develop their reading and comprehension skills.

Each child receives their own set of textbooks, workbooks and phonics books as well as a homework folder that allows them to consolidate their learning from class at home.

• The timetable above is a basic schedule, however please note that it is subject to change depending on situations.
• The class your child will attend will depend on his/her English ability. We will inform you of the appropriate class after the trial lesson.

• Registration Fee is charged only at the time of enrolment.
