Thanks to the wonderful growth and success of our community, CIS will be relocating to a new, larger site in Nishi-Azabu from April 2026.
Our new campus will provide increased space, enhanced learning environments, and improved facilities tailored specifically to the developmental needs of our youngest learners. This move also strengthens the growing CEA educational pathway (18 months to 18 years), supporting a seamless journey from CIS → Phoenix House → Rugby School Japan for our families.
Our final day at the current Main Building in Omotesando will be Friday 20th March 2026, with the opening of our new campus anticipated for the beginning of the Summer Term, Wednesday 8th April 2026.
This move is a testament to the strength of our community, and we are deeply grateful for your trust, support, and belief in what we are building together. Clarence has always been a place where children are nurtured, challenged, and celebrated, and this new chapter will allow us to do all of this even more brilliantly. Please rest assured that while our building and location will change, the heart of CIS will remain exactly the same.
Keep an eye on this page and our social media for updates on the new school’s progress, as well as orientation details for families and children.
Our move to a new campus reflects our commitment to providing the best possible learning environment for our students. The new site allows for improved facilities, more dedicated learning and play spaces, and room to grow as a school community.
The new campus is conveniently located in Nishi-Azabu. The closest train stations are Hiroo Station and Roppongi Station, and Kogai Park is a 4 minute walk from the campus, allowing ample opportunity for outdoor learning. Full address details and maps will be shared ahead of the move.
The anticipated opening date of the new campus is Wednesday 8th April 2026, the start of the Summer Term. We do not anticipate any disruption to the academic calendar. Our aim is to maintain familiar routines so that children experience continuity and stability throughout the transition.
Our curriculum, philosophy, and daily structure which makes CIS special will remain consistent. The new campus allows us to enhance delivery without changing what families value most about our school.
Yes. Continuity of care is important to us, and children will remain with their current teachers wherever possible.
Transitions will be carefully planned with children’s emotional well-being in mind. Teachers will prepare students in advance through discussion, visual support, and orientation activities to help them feel confident and excited. A phased return to school will also aid children in settling into their new setting.
The school bus service will continue to operate as normal with a new route to meet the needs of the Nishi-Azabu campus. If transportation arrangements are affected, families will be informed promptly with clear explanations and alternatives where applicable.
Designated drop-off and pick-up arrangements will be in place. Further details will be shared once final logistics are confirmed.
Yes. We plan to offer opportunities for all parents to have a guided tour of the new campus once open.
Parents are welcome to contact the school office or Senior Leadership Team at any time. We are always happy to discuss individual questions or concerns.
